Reeves Wordle (A Free Classroom Wordle Built for the Projector)

A free Wordle for the classroom, built to be run from the front of the room. The teacher picks the class and the word bank, hits New Round, and the class guesses together on the projector. Every round is logged to that period, so by Friday you can see which class solves in the fewest guesses.

I built it for a former teacher of mine, which is where the name comes from. It runs in the browser from a single file. There is no account to make, nothing to install, and no logins for students. It saves everything in your browser, and you can export a backup any time.

How to play

1. Pick a class from the first dropdown. Practice is there too, for rounds you do not want counted.
2. Pick a word bank from the second one. The built-in bank works out of the box.
3. Press New Round. Students call out guesses, you type them, and Enter submits. Six tries.
4. Green is the right letter in the right spot. Orange is the right letter in the wrong spot. Grey is not in the word.
5. When the round ends, a card shows the word, how many guesses it took, and the class’s record for the day. Press Enter again for the next round.

If the class is stuck, Reveal shows the answer and ends the round. It asks once before it does, so a stray click cannot spoil a round. A revealed round counts as a loss.

Built for the projector

• Class view hides the header, the tabs, and the dropdowns. Students see the board and a small chip with the class name, nothing else. A gear opens the controls when you need them, and Esc brings everything back.
• It remembers your class. Pick Period 3B once and it stays picked, through tab switches and reloads.
• A status line under the controls shows today’s record for the class, how many words are left before the bank starts repeating, and the round number.
• Big mode enlarges the tiles and keys for the back row. Colorblind colors swaps green for blue. Both live in the Display menu at the top, along with dark theme.
• Analytics shows win rate and average guesses for each class, with a leaderboard. Practice rounds are left out of the numbers.

Word banks

The built-in bank is the Wordle answer list, about 2,300 everyday five-letter words, screened for a classroom. I took out the drinking words, the crude ones, and the insults, and left the ordinary nouns alone. KNIFE and BLOOD stay, VODKA does not.

You can make as many banks as you want. Name one, paste your vocabulary list in the same box, and it is ready. Words can be 3 to 10 letters, so a unit list of longer terms works too. Bulk Add takes a pasted list, From File reads a .txt or .csv, and the app tells you which words it skipped and why, instead of quietly dropping them.

With No repeats on, the class never sees the same word twice until the bank runs out. The word list shows which words are played and which are still waiting, and you can sort it A to Z or by length.

There is also a small prompt generator. Set a topic, a grade level, and a word length, copy the prompt it writes, and hand it to whatever AI assistant you use. The words it sends back paste straight into Bulk Add.

Star Wars mode

The teacher this was built for is a Star Wars fan. Turn on Star Wars mode in the Display menu and the correct tiles glow lightsaber green, every guess gets a saber swing, a round starts with an ignition, and the messages change to match. It does not change the words or the scoring. It is just more fun.

Your data

Rounds, banks, and settings are saved in the browser on the computer you play on. Export Backup in Admin writes a JSON file you can keep or move to another machine, and Import Backup reads it back. In Chrome or Edge, Link Data File keeps a file on your drive updated as you go, so a cleared browser does not cost you a semester of records.
