Every time I get too deep into a silly series, I always have to remind myself to read an adult book. I have a love for Jefferson Fisher from his Youtube videos and Instagram reels where he gives advice on how to communicate better. (Also, shout out How to Convince with Lawyer Vince.) This book is a great skill sharpener. I highly suggest adding this to your reading list if you have already read Crucial Conversations or other books in that scene.

I bought this book because of Freya’s interview on an episode of Chris Williamson’s Modern Wisdom podcast. My goal for this read was to understand the perspective, from a woman, of the impact and evolving issues that have manifested from the technological advances from the 2010s to now. I lived it, but the impact on young women is something, as a man, that I did not realize. All educators have read The Anxious Generation at this point, and I think this is a helpful addition to the dialogue we are having as we are steer the boat a new direction.

The Digital Delusion: How Classroom Technology Harms Our Kids’ Learning–and How to Help Them Thrive Again by Jared Cooney Horvath

As a digital technology instructional coach and sometimes EdTech consultatnt, this is an ironic book for me to be reading. That is correct, I am about a 1/3 of the way through it, but I am still counting this. I love Dr. Cooney Horvath. I saw him speak at a Learning and the Brain conference in 2023. My goal in reading this book is not to turn against EdTech, rather I want to be more mindful and intentional. THIS BOOK IS SO GOOD. It reads much easier than many books on similar topics.
